It's officially 2008, people. And we're just starting to hear stories about some of the more fabulous people's winter holidays. Eva Mendes hit up Tulum with Calvin Klein's Lauryn Flynn; Tinsley Mortimer was in Mustique (where Amy Winehouse was also spottedtalk about an unexpected pairing); Kate Hudson hung out with Momma Goldie in Aspen; and Lauren Davis holed up in Colombia to put the finishing touches on her upcoming wedding plans. Perhaps the most civilized celebrating took place at the Traina Vineyards in Napa Valley, where three of Danielle Steele's beautiful (and Balenciaga-clad) daughtersSamantha, Victoria, and Vanessahosted a sit-down dinner for a bicoastal and British collection of friends and family. Mary-Kate Olsen, Proenza Schouler CEO Shirley Cook, and Lyle Maltz came from New York; Teen Vogue's Carlos Lopez and Maggie Kayne drove up from L.A.; and the handsome DJ and male model threesome of Chris Belcher, Freddy Page, and Nicholas Hadfield flew in from London. "This is the way to ring in the new year, with the friends and family we love most," Vanessa said in a toast. The festivities went off without a hitch, thanks to good planning. "We learned a lot from Mom," Victoria said. "One of her best lessons was how to entertain."

MSNBC recently interviewed a source close to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who is concerned for Ashley’s health.

The insider claims that Ashley is concerned with her acting career, seeing that Mary-Kate, the thinner sister, is getting more acting offers than Ash is.

“Ashley’s hoping that if she can lose weight, she can compete with her twin,” the insider claims.

They go on to say that Ashley is eating less and exercising more: “She’ll eat, then go home and do aerobics to make sure she doesn’t gain any weight. She does leg lifts and arm exercises and walks everywhere.”

Another source is worried that Ashley is taking on the fashion of someone with an eating disorder by dressing in baggy clothes. “They think that if there are no pictures of them looking like skin and bones, they can get away with it,” the second source claims.

I haven’t seen Ashley wear anything that looks overly baggy lately. She does look a little thinner, but it’s possible its nothing to worry about.
