JULIA who? There was only one name on everyone's lips at the premiere of teen flick Wildchild, and it certainly wasn't Julia Roberts. Instead, it was the screen star's 17-year-old niece Emma who took centre stage at last night's "pink carpet" premiere in Dublin.

 

And lest anyone think this actress is trading on her famous auntie's success, the all-female pre-teenage audience were blissfully ignorant of Emma Roberts' acting pedigree.

"Julia Roberts? She was in Dirty Dancing, wasn't she?" suggested one young fan as she queued for an autograph. Apparently the delights of Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride and Notting Hill are considered out-of-date by today's 14-year-olds.

Instead, the focus is on "Unfabulous" star Emma, who has stolen the crown with her lead role in the feel-good schoolgirl film Wildchild.

Arriving at last night's premiere, the brown-eyed actress simply looked like a younger version of the Pretty Woman star. However, if she was frustrated about the comparisons with her aunt the perfectly polite Emma wasn't about to say so.

Instead, she diplomatically told the Herald: "I think it's a positive thing because she's a really great actress, but yeah, sometimes it can be a little annoying."

Nonetheless, with her stunning looks and acting talent, the American starlet could soon be making a habit of putting auntie in the shade. Judging by the crowds of excitable girls who queued to see their new idol last night, the hype is only just beginning.

Squeaky clean, polite, cheerful and utterly wholesome, Ms Roberts Junior is clearly groomed for the teen slot vacated by Lindsay Lohan and the Olsen twins.

A sea of kids congregated at Cineworld last night to see the new heir to the Hollywood throne in the flesh. And they weren't disappointed. Dressed in skyscraper heels and a black and cream pinafore dress, Emma Roberts happily posed for photographs and signed endless autographs before taking her seat at the screening.

Her actor father Eric was otherwise occupied promoting his own latest film, none other than the new batman flick The Dark Night. However, he'll have to wait a little longer to get the seal of approval from his daughter. A sheepish Emma admitted: "It's crazy that we're both in films at the same time. But I haven't even seen it yet. I just haven't had time."

Fans won't have to wait long for a fresh wave of Emma-mania. In fact, the bubbly teen revealed she's just completed her latest film Hotel for Dogs with Don Cheadle and Lisa Kudrow.
