Contactmusic.com - Teen actresses MARY-KATE and ASHLEY OLSEN hit a stumbling block when they bought a wine package gift at a recent auction - they were too young to legally pay for the alcohol.
The 18-year-old screen star twins attended the SCLERODERMA RESEARCH FOUNDATION benefit at Caroline's On Broadway comedy club in New York on 8 November (04), which was hosted by former FULL HOUSE TV presenter BOB SAGET.
And the pair enthusiastically bid for a gift for their dad DAVID - a "Best of Napa Valley" package, which included a firstclass flight for two to San Francisco, a luxurious stay at the Valley's Carneros Inn and 10 bottles of wine.
But as the legal age for alcohol consumption in the US is 21, a representative for the foundation called David Olsen, who offered to pay the $58,000 (GBP32,000) for the prize himself.
Representative CHARLES SPAULDING says, "We'll deliver it directly to him. It was our biggest donation of the evening."
