In Olsens' contest, secrecy takes prize
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen honored a select group of fans over the weekend and - true to form - kept things under cloak-and-dagger secrecy.
On Saturday afternoon, 20 lucky contest winners from the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Britain, France, Spain, Germany, Japan and Australia were treated to two hours of quality time with the pint-size NYU students at Dylan's Candy Bar.
"The people who were coming only knew they were going to New York at the last minute, to meet the twins at an undisclosed location," reports a Lowdown spy. "Dylan's has a very secure, private room downstairs, and there's a back exit, so you don't have to go through the front door."
Lowdown hears that once they were inside with their bodyguards, the usually mute Olsens fielded questions and posed for pictures.
The timing of the event may have caught anorexia sufferer Mary-Kate midbinge: According to the spy, the twins both "ate ravenously" and left with "huge goodie bags of candy - tote bags the size of the big Herve Chapelier purses."
Yesterday, the Olsens' PR rep Michael Pagnotta told Lowdown: "These things are done privately. Making it public wouldn't have been fair to the people who won the contest."
He added: "They were pretty young kids, 9 and 10 years old. But the winners from Japan were in their mid- to late teens! That was interesting. The level of interest there goes way beyond tweens."

Your right Leslie it does seem odd Pagnotta wouldn’t know that. But maybe he does and he just wants to hint their fans aren’t all just little girls.
I find it funny that it was a big deal for the Japanese fans to be older… they have TONS of older fans all over the world! If they aren’t aware of that, they’re pretty blind!
