Just got the word from the official Mary-Kate and Ashley web site that the new members-only Mary-Kate and Ashley fan club will officially open December 6, 2004. Here's what they told me:

• I think that It dosen’t matter how much it cost. If you are a fan you should consitter join. If you are a huge fan i would definatly join. Its not that expensive and the money goes to the website i think. (i dont know exactly but i dont think they take all money they get):mrgreen: or i hope not.. Maybe some1 who knows tell. cause i dont:roll: but im a huge fan and i’ve been member for sooo0o0o long and i think its worth it. And you number 5- why are you even here if you hate them? • So my daughter comes and tells me that she is really interested in joining this Olson Twin website and I check it out. They want paid membership. I have to wonder something. Do these girls actually have real lives, or are they products of the television industry designed and molded from such a young age. I mean no mal-intent for those girls. I think their parents are fully to blame for not valuing these girls as their daughters and human beings, but more along the lines of glitter and gold. Having a website with paid membership just shows that Mary Kate and Ashley can be sold. Prostitutes can be sold too and that’s illegal…why isn’t it illegal to sell superstars too? Rhetorically speaking of course.

• Thanks for the comment. There are others who feel as you do so your not alone. I don’t agree they price gouge anyone though. No one forces anyone to buy their products.

  If they try it and few join, it fails - if millions join, it succeeds. That’s how business works and this is part of their business. They give plenty to charity so you can’t say they only care about making money.

  I’m just afraid they’re not going to offer anything that you can’t already get for free. MK and Ash are going to actually have to participate on a regular basis so it will be worth the money.

• The idea of having to pay them for ANY part of their website is ludicrous - like they need to gouge kids for even MORE money?
  Shame ful - they should have made this just a memeber thing, with no additional costs - and I said as much in reply to the notice I got from the website.
  I don;t begruge them their fortune, they worked for it, but hitting up kids for membership dues to access parts of their website is just too mercenary for my tastes…
