Mary-Kate Olsen is in Dubai, celebrating the grand opening of Atlantis, The Palm Resort, and the Palm Jumeirah. Over 2500 VIPs flew in for the bash, in what was dubbed the “world’s largest party.” Everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Oprah Winfrey was there. Guests enjoyed a fireworks show and an after-party DJed by Samantha Ronson. The party cost over $20 million dollars. That’s pretty lavish, but what else would you expect from a hotel that’s built on a man-made island?

According to News of the World, Nate Lowman is with MK. They are staying at the Atlantis together, but there’s no photos of Nate at the party. Perhaps he wasn’t one of the thousands of VIPs? (Thanks to jj for the tip!)

Many an A-lister made the trek to Dubai today to celebrate the grand opening of the Atlantis Palm Resort. Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson traveled from London to join Sam's mother Ann Dexter-Jones, while Mischa Barton will show up anywhere there's a red carpet. The eclectic crew, which included Mary-Kate Olsen all draped in white, Gerard Butler, Charlize Theron, and Stuart Townsend, was treated to dinner and an elaborate performance from Kylie Minogue. Only a truly lavish affair would attract so many stars to such a distant place, and it seems like opulent Dubai isn't feeling too pinched by the global credit crisis.

Despite the tough economic times being experienced around the globe, South African Casino mogul Solomon Kerzner is sparing no expense for the grand opening of his $1.5 billion Atlantis hotel.  And there are plenty of Hollywood hotties flocking to the massive event taking place tonight in Dubai.

More than 2000 celebrities from all over the world are due to make their Middle East debut, including A-listers like Robert De Niro, Lindsay Lohan, Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen, Michael Jordan, Denzel Washington, Mary-Kate Olsen and even Oprah!

International superstar Kylie was on hand to sing a 1-hour set of her best hits and rumour has it she is being paid an astonishing $4 million for her efforts.

Just to give you an indication of how big this bash is, the display will have five times more fireworks than the opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics.
