Mary-Kate Olsen refused to be interviewed by police about Heath Ledger's death.
The 22-year-actress - who was a close friend of the late 'Brokeback Mountain' actor -rejected federal investigators attempts to talk to her about Heath, who died of an accidental prescription drugs overdose in his New York apartment in January, unless she is given immunity from prosecution.
A source said: "Everyone has been very eager to help, saying what a great guy Heath Ledger was, everyone except Mary-Kate, who has refused to speak."
The police were keen to speak to Olsen because they are attempting to ascertain where Ledger obtained the powerful painkiller OxyContin.
Olsen's attorney Michael C. Miller denied the allegations, insisting: "Ms. Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them.
"Regarding the Government's investigation, at Ms. Olsen's request, we have provided the Government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger's death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed.
"We don't know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the Government's inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate."
