Mary-Kate Olsen was recently spotted in an elevator at the Barneys department store in NYC - clutching bags of discounted merchandise, SS reports

According to New York Post gossip column Page Six, Olsen said, "It's really sad - the recession is everywhere. But at least they are having good sales.

"That's where I got this! The recession!"
