Q&A: John Stamos
John Stamos has had quite a career on the small screen. Rebel soap star Blackie, rockin' Uncle Jesse on "Full House," and now he's a New York City publicist on "Jake in Progress." He spoke with NEWSWEEK's Nicki Gostin.
I watched a couple of episodes of the show. It's pretty good!
Thank you. I love it, that's been the response from people—saying, "It's really good" and sounding surprised. I hope we're doing something different. Single camera, no laugh track, not telling people when to laugh. [Coughs profusely] If I die on the phone, then it'll be a really interesting interview. I just got back from Brazil and I brought back some weird virus.
When you were young, Dad owned a restaurant.
He never let me quit. I'd tell him, "But, Dad, I'm on TV!" He'd be, like, "I don't care. I can't replace you right now." People were, like, "Can I have a cheeseburger—wait a minute, aren't you the guy from 'General Hospital?' "
Is it weird for you how hot the Olsens are now?

Which was the better actress?
Mary-Kate had a crush on me, so we used her for more of the tender scenes. She was a little more expressive. Ashley was more of the thinker. I actually tried to fire both of them the first week because they wouldn't stop crying.
They were babies!
I didn't care. Here I am trying to do a scene and these kids are bawling their heads off. I said, "I can't work with this." So they brought in these two redheaded twins, and they were not attractive. I said, "All right, bring the Olsen twins back." And they stayed—so they owe me.

I don't go out very much. I don't do as well as people think I do.
Yeah, right.
I swear to God. I was in Brazil for two-and-a-half weeks. I did not kiss one girl. How about that? In Brazil, of all places.

people who don’t understad why she does not eat, i can tell u, i’ve got the same illenessess and
