>> Mary-Kate Layed Off From Factory?

December 29th, 2006 - General

According to an article by Liz Smith dated December 28, 2006 Mary-Kate refused to do publicity for Factory Girl because her role was so small. Because of that Harvey Weinstein cut her from the movie!

Baltimoresun.com

‘Girl’ trouble
Mary-Kate Olsen, one of the perilously skinny Olsen twins, had a role in the coming film Factory Girl that was as thin as her thigh. In fact the role was so small, Mary-Kate refused to do any press junkets for the movie. Oops!

Harvey Weinstein, whose company is producing Factory Girl, just up and cut what there was of Mary-Kate right out of the movie. That’s Mary-Kate’s story, anyway. Don’t mess with Harvey; you’ll never come out ahead. (But maybe he was just messing with her tiny head, and she’s still there, in all her wispy glory?)

    hi!
this realy sucks. haha, yes, as you said (13) it’s crap. well, i just wondered if someone here knows what this movie is about? is it like some kind of comedy, (maby not), or what? well. go m-k! you did have two choices, and i know, that whatever you would have taken, it would be the right one!

While I think it’s admirable that MK wants to get a foothold in the world of indie film, she needs to realize that indie film people are a tribe who are deeply skeptical of the inhabitants of Celebrity World. The more tabloid covers you are on, the harder it’s going to be get their respect.

The way to do that is to be as indifferent to your fame as you possibly can - like a normal person starting out in the biz. Do the best you can with what you’re given, and let everyone know how happy you are to be part of it. Playing the diva with these people - not wise.

I don’t mean to sound harsh - she’s young, and hopefully will get the chance to learn from this, if she still wants it.

well, we ALL know, there’s 2 sides to every story…and that the truth is somewhere in the middle…

but, what grinds my gears is: if she IS doing drugs, with the money i used to PAY for all those DVD’s, AND she DIDN’T invite me???…well, then i’m just insulted, and there WON’T be any “merry x-mass mary-kate and ashley” videos NEXT year!!!…

    :)

I feel that she should have went on the tour no matter how small her role was. It makes her look like she is a good team player. It also help her recieve bigger part movie roles. Since she will be scraped from the movie for refusing to go on this tour movie directors and producers won’t Recognise her accomplicements to this movie.

Some actors spend there careers just trying to get a part in some sort of on screen movie role. If they recieved an opportunity im sure they would not risk their on screen appeareance just cos their role is small.

If she is such a big actor then why did she not recieve a star role in a movie.

MK (never) need that little pitiable film. She showed her act-loving personality with playing. I think they wanted just win more money with fans.

good point. she doesnt want to mislead her fans or give the producers any more than they gave her.

if see did promotion for the film it would miss lead people into thinking she has a bigger role when she dosn’t

  17. Rick — December 29, 2006 @ 8:44 am

Why should MK be required to take time promoting a movie she only has a bit-part in anyway! I mean, doing something like that takes up a lot of a person’s time (I’m fairly certain) and MK’s time is valuable! Plus; as has already been stated, her part in the movie was small anyway! So why should she be required to take her time and effort to promote the movie? The main characters in the film have that responsibility — not Mary-Kate! I feel sorry for her! She was just being used by that studio and/or producer, etc.. Sincerely; An MK&A Fan Forever And For Always, Rick Morris
