Star and Enquirer magazines have their tails between their legs over allegations that Mary-Kate Olsen, half of the Olsen twins' media empire, was treated for cocaine addiction when she checked into Cirque Lodge, a Utah rehabilitation center. Seems the waif-like starlet wasn't taking time to smell the snow bouquet after all. (although American Media, owner of both magazines, stands behind the claim to the bitter end). Bonnie Fuller, American Media's editorial director, has the last laugh in this one, cashing in on a $4.5 million, three-year contract she signed to leave US Weekly whether the story pans out of not.

(Some celebs, who are FOBs (friends of Bonnie's) such as Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez and Anna Nicole Smith are the subject of only kind stories, however. In fact, when her good pal Kimora Lee Simmons was arrested for DUI, Bonnie's caption on her mug shot read "Kimora's CUTE mug shot." Yeah, drunk driving -- it's so sexy!)

It’s funny how some people think their opinions, backed up by pretty much nothing, counts as “fact”. No one has been given or produced conclusive proof of anything yet just because Mary-Kate entered a treatment facility which just HAPPENED to also offer substance abuse programs, people automatically assume it’s the drugs. Why? Because it sounds more sensational, sells more idiotic papers that contribute to the dumbing down of America (and perhaps the rest of the planet) and it makes people feel better about their own dismal state of affairs they call lives.
Someone who makes money or gains anything off of destroying others is not a commendable human being. They are sleazy and aren’t deserving of an iota of respect from people who have a common sense of DECENCY. The sad thing is people actually buy this garbage and line the pockets of these people because they feel they have the right to rip open someone’s private life for their own personal entertainment just because they’re famous. People swoop down on them like vultures anytime they show even an inkling of human weakness. They somehow aren’t human unless they’re dragged under the wheels of an increasingly impersonal public.
What reasoning is there in scandalizing someone when there is no proof that person did anything wrong? Are people somehow entitled to make other people miserable?
Even if she was there for a cocaine addiction, why is it a hot topic for people? LOTS of people are cocaine addicts. Is someone with Mary-Kate’s status less deserving of compassion because of that status? Is an addiction or any ailment a matter to be scorned over?
People need to stop mistaking gossip for actual reporting.
I myself do not believe in judging if i dont not now the truth. but in a lot of pictures i see if you look at mary kates eyes and how intense and wide they are compared to ashleys its very crazy. And they do say she was checked in for an eating disorder but do you really thing they would say she is getting checked in for coke? come on think about it and add up the facts. But i could really care less if she is i will always be a fan, and like some people said shes young and famous who has money to afford it but hey to each their own
It’s kind of ridiculous to assume we know anything going on in their lives. She might be using cocaine, she might not. Maybe instead of debating whether or not, or what reason she would have for snorting lines, you should deal with your own problems.. lets say.. celebrity addiction! In response to your question “kate c” YES anorexics see the real weight on the scale, they have a distorted vision of themselves not the numbers laid out before them.
I do believe that Mary-Kate is doing cocaine and she is way way too skinny and just because she is famous and alot of people are looking at her doesn’t mean she has to starve herself now people think that she is sickening and people think that she looked way better when she was younger.

When I was in recovery for my eating disorder I was also there because I had developed a bad habit with methamphetamines. it’s obvious that mary-kate is underweight. whether or not this has anything to do with drugs is beside the point. MK has a serious DESEASE that kills HUNDREDS of women and men every year! whether or not she was doing coke in order to lose weight doesn’t matter, the real issue here is MKs eating disorder.
Man I hate people who hide behind someone elses name. Pretending to be an Olsen is so beyond lame.
Maybe you won’t need to do this once you get out of grade school - one can hope anyway.

Mary-Kate (she`s probably not), you should know that she has big
problems with herself, and you should just refuse those rumours by

That’s what you call circumstantial evidence. It’s not proof is it? Would you like to be convicted of a crime purely on circumstantial evidence? If you went to a hospital for an eating disorder that specialized in cancer treatment and people said you MUST have cancer is that true or fair? No. If you went into a bathroom that happened to have a lot of people smoking weed, would it be fair to accuse YOU of smoking weed just because you happen to leave from there? That’s circumstantial evidence.
And let’s remember that while a false rumor like this can be VERY damaging to anyone, it is especially damaging to a celebrity. No one should EVER spread a rumor like this without proof.
It’s pretty obvious since no reputable publication confirmed this false story, and even the tabloids dropped it, that this rumor never was true and they knew it. Yet many creeps on the internet and in the media still spew our this lie like it is true. That’s terrible. I wouldn’t want that to happen to me or anyone else.
If one of the counselors at Cirque Lodge publicly stated she was there for a drug addiction then that would be proof. If MK publicly stated that she was an addict then that would be proof. But that has not happened.
It is unethical for any news publication to state as fact something that is not a fact, only rumor. Can we agree on that? They never said it was “possible” she was there for drug addiction, they said it was an absolute FACT that she was. That. Is. Wrong. Period.
why was she at a rehab place that only treats drug and alcohol addictions then? surely it would have been better to go for one that treats anorexia??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
