Mary Kate Olsen no longer has to appear before a Grand Jury. Subpoena: null. Why? The federal investigation of Heath Ledger’s death is now over.

What the twin would have had to offer in the accidental-drug-overdose death of Heath on Jan. 22 has always been unclear, but now we’ll never know, because the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office has closed the case. Which, hey, after nearly eight months of finding nothing, it was about time.

According to TMZ, the Drug Enforcement Administration “set a new low for starf**king.” It sounds like they prolonged an investigation — despite it being an accidental death with no hint of criminality — simply to get their fifteen minutes with the likes of Michelle Williams, Helena Christensen, of course Mary-Kate, and some fella in California that may or may not have smoked a joint with Heath back in the nineties.

A dirty, dirty joke not even The Joker is deserving of.
