The New York Post claimed yesterday that police were looking to interview Mary-Kate Olsen about the death of her friend, Australian actor Heath Ledger. Police spokespeople and the tabloid's competitors, including Gawker, may have been too quick to rubbish the line of inquiry. Today, The Post ups the pressure with a set of questions unanswered the hard-partying actress: "Why did she send her bodyguards to the scene? Why didn't she tell the masseuse who found Ledger's body to call 911? Why did she think her security guards could help in a medical emergency?" But there's more: an eyewitness account to be published in tomorrow's Sunday Telegraph, in Australia, claims Mary-Kate Olsen's bodyguards entered Heath Ledger's building three minutes before the arrival of paramedics at 3.33pm, not simultaneously, as previously reported. Which begs another question. The police discovered a wide array of prescription drugs in the Brokeback star's apartment, but no illegal substances. Would Olsen's bodyguards have had time, or instructions, to remove any embarrassing evidence?

People Magazine has confirmed our Gawker Stalker reports: Mary-Kate Olsen was indeed partying on the Lower East Side on Thursday night, The former child star was a friend of Heath Ledger, and the first person called after the actor's body was found dead. But the diminutive star was not so devastated by his death to alter her social schedule. [Photo from Splash.]

Mary-Kate Olsen, who was dating Heath Ledger at the time of his death, released a statement yesterday. "Heath was a friend. His death is a tragic loss. My thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time," Olsen said in a statement released through her rep to "People" magazine. Well that clears it all up. Everyone's been talking about the weird back and forth between Mary-Kate and Heath's masseuse Diana Wolozin over the phone when Wolozin discovered his body this past Tuesday in his apartment. Four phone calls were made between the two, and the ladies weren't exactly hasty in dialing 911. The NYPD has said that Mary-Kate won't be questioned about what went on. Good luck finding her anyway in the enchanted forest she lives in. Heath and Mary-Kate met in the summer of 2006, and have reportedly been "casually dating" recently.
The Australian heartthrob died of an apparent overdose; the masseuse who discovered the body called TV actress Mary-Kate Olsen before 911. Three times. "No one ever really dies," said Britney Spears, a troubled pop star for whom many news organizations, caught off guard by recent celebrity deaths, had already prepared obituaries. Fox News' John Gibson found humor the death of an actor who had once played -- titter -- a gay cowboy. That movie, Brokeback Mountain, jumped into Amazon.com's top 25 DVDs, but Ledger's disconsolate fans preferred the actor's lighter fare, such as A Knight's Tale.
The Fox shockjock's ultimate boss, Roger Ailes, can breathe a little easier: News Corporation paid over $10m to shut up the star of its books division, who had evidence of a political cover-up. That won't help the campaign of Rudy Giuliani, who was savaged in his home-town newspaper, the New York Times. Hillary Clinton, the strongest presidential candidate, showed her feminine side, gingerly, by posing for Harper's Bazaar, but only in a spread with some of her male rivals.
Some Spanish speakers may have been confused by this week's news. On Google "Heath Ledger is dead" was translated as "Tom Cruise is dead." The star of the Mission Impossible movies may be heading that way, at the box office. The video interview in which Cruise raves about Scientology has been seen by millions, and has spawned countless spoofs; it has metastasized into the popular culture. Cruise will never be seen merely as an actor again; more as a zealot. The sect tried to shut down pages containing its secret videos, but it met its match in a new and amorphous enemy. A group of hackers calling themselves Anonymous declared war on the "cult" with a cyber-attack that overwhelmed Scientology websites. Several people spotted Mary-Kate Olsen out on the town with sister Ashley on January 23. They spent the evening at Piano, an NYC hotpost.
“It was weird to see her and her pals there with a bodyguard in the corner keeping an eye on her. She didn’t look concerned with anything that had happened with Heath at all,” a source told Radar.
However, it wasn’t fun and games for the girls.“They didn’t laugh or smile a bit … not one bit,” another source said.
After Piano, Mary-Kate headed to Sweet Paradise with rumored boyfriend artist Nate Lowman and the two engaged in some PDA.
“It was a deep passionate kiss, which she’d follow up with a lot of little kisses,” says Radar’s source. “She seemed to be very into him. She kept putting her hands behind his head and playing with his hair.”
Thankfully, people left MK alone. “Most of the people just walked right by her and didn’t even pay her a second glance,” the source said. “She really fit in well here.”
Some people have been giving MK a hard time about these sightings. But I think people grieve in different ways and we can’t be ones to judge at this difficult time.

The NY Post is getting in trouble for the false information they reporting regarding the police wanting to question Mary-Kate Olsen. (They don’t).
Col Allen, editor of the NY Post, sent the following email to New York Magazine:
We confirmed this story last night with an impeccable source inside the NYPD and we stand by our reporting. Almost immediately after the tragic passing of Mr. Ledger, Ms. Olsen’s attorneys began emailing us threatening letters. As has been well reported, there were a number of calls to Ms. Olsen from the masseuse before the NYPD arrived on the scene. We would find it strange if Ms. Olsen were not questioned at all. The New York Post will not be pressured and we find it odd that the chiefs at the NYPD appear to be terrified of 4-foot-11 inch, 90-pound Mary Kate Olsen.
While it is strange that Mary-Kate isn’t getting questioned at all (just for confirmation purposes), this email is a bit harsh, don’t you think?
