How to post a picture to a forum using an image hosting service

by Michael Shipley

TinyPic.com

First, go to Tinypic.com. Below is a screenshot of the TinyPic home page. I added the yellow ovals to highlight the important parts.

Choose

If the picture you want to post is on your computer, click  [Choose]  to select the picture from your computer. Skip to here.

Host from URL

If you want to post a picture from a web site, then you can either click on - Host from URL - then paste the picture URL into the URL text box or you can "right-click-save" the pic to your computer then [Choose] it from your computer.

If you want to just enter the pic url then click - Host from URL - then enter the pic url.

To get the picture URL, assuming your using Internet Explorer, right-click on the picture then left click on .

Select the URL

Select URL animation - select-url.wmv

Select the url of the picture with your mouse then type ctrl-c on the keyboard to copy it to the clipboard.

Click on the URL text box on the TinyPic page then type ctrl-v.

Note that some web sites don't allow their pics to be "hot-linked" like this so this may not work. The only sure way is to upload a pic from your computer to TinyPic.

Host It

Next, click on [Host It]. This will transfer the picture to the TinyPic server and take you to the next screen. On this screen there will be 3 choices at the bottom of the page:

Url: If you just want to show a link to the picture, copy and paste the Url text to the forum.

Tag: If your posting a picture to a board that uses straight html like <img...> , copy and past the html Tag text to the forum.

Img: If your posting to a bbcode enabled board that uses [img] tags , then copy and paste the Img text to the forum.
